Babel II has stakes that carry between episodes, characters respond to things based on what they know and don't know, big events have impact. Real basic stuff, but after Astroganger it's like...oh, competence!
Won't pretend to be overly familiar with figure skating in manga, but where I have seen it, energy flows in turns and spins. Noda's approach feels very linear and punchy. Even when Rou spins, the focus is on the linear momentum of his body.
