Yeah, but it's not always been like this. Many German publishers for instance have much friendlier prices for academic books. And many US/UK publishers used to have ok prices back when I was a student...
But Routledge is evil, the pricing is aimed at ripping off publicly funded libraries.
I've just published a review of the fantastic GMT game Atlantic Chase over on my blog: wargamingraft.wordpress.com/2024/09/27/a...
I’ve never really been into board wargames. Sure, there are a number I enjoy, like Maria or the Commands & Colors series, but I always kept away from the traditional hex-and-counter games…
That's a nice idea for terrain!
TBH it was, as I forgot that I should have made an air strike when I had cornered the damaged Graf Spee off Scapa Flow. This would have very probably sunk her... But no, the Navy didn't want to share the glory and the opportunity was lost :)
I can highly recommend it, it's well worth the price.
Oh well. But I'm very keen to try it again. Atlantic Chase really is excellent. I've rarely been that impressed by a game. #atlanticchase
At least the Repulse TF could prevent the German from nabbing the Portsmouth bound convoy, who made it safely into harbour. However, the tally was not something to be proud of: one convoy lost, no German surface raider sunk. What will the First Lord of the Admiralty say? #atlanticchase
