If my game interface is just a tiny bit more inefficient but cool as hell as a result of it that’s still good UX right.

I mean, sure. It's not an industrial HMI display. Communicating theme and providing ambience and "juice" are all UX jobs, too.

If cool as hell doesn't outweigh efficient, I don't want any part of your UI.
