I just got the same email! Went to the "cancel" link just to click the "take as long as you want" button, because I can wait. Glad they are doing well, can't wait to try out the new spices when they get here.
My first real job, I worked my way up over 5 years from file clerk to payroll to IT Admin, was trusted with the MONEY, got an AAS in night school with the promise of a promotion that never came, no raise, nothing. And when I left - it took THREE people to replace me. Never again.
You only "earn" a 3rd week after being at the company for 5 years? What, so my "loyalty" means I am allowed PTO? What the heck? No, my expertise, experience, knowledge, and good work ethic means you want to hire me in the first place, and I DESERVE paid time off.
And things changed again when I started negotiating for more vacation time at new jobs, in lieu of a few extra thousand salary. Starting over at 2 weeks was intolerable to me.
My work life changed for the better when I realized this - Work is work, the rest is MINE. Doing extra / good / hard work? Only results in more work and no appreciation, because it's a BUSINESS and it wants profit. Not good things for ME. That's my responsibility.
Took me over 4 months to finally score an invite, which isn't bad considering how non-social I am! But it was quite frustrating for those months, watching all my interesting people migrate away, and not being able to follow. Glad to be here now!
Got anything with a "Groundhog Day"-style time loop? I love it in shows and movies, but haven't read a book with it yet.
