I don't understand tenured faculty who don't mentor/talk to/respond to emails from their own doctoral students during the summer because they are not on contract. I am very concerned about labor justice in higher education. Also, don't take on students if you plan to ghost them for 3 months.

I give my faculty a very modest stipend to work with doctoral students (who have to register during the summer) while off contract. It's the ethical thing to do.
