sorry, not sure I understand. The default for GitHub pages does not appear to redirect ( <account/org>.github.io/<repo> ).

www redirects and github io /<account> /repo redirects to the same top level github pages for me (although the account name I tried it with doesn't have anything *on* GitHub pages); I imagine by the time anything goes through they can just redirect from .io they way they did *to* .io
