ps. Congo was born in 1954. He learned to draw near the age of two, when zoologist Desmond Morris offered him a pencil and some paper. Morris soon observed that "Congo would draw circles, and had a basic sense of composition. He also showed symmetrical consistency."

ps. "Ring of Bright Water" is based on a book by Gavin Maxwell, who brought a smooth-coated otter to Scotland from the Marshes of Iraq. Maxwell named the otter Mijbil. It was later determined that Mijbil belonged to a previously unknown subspecies that was then named "Maxwell's Otter".

ps. Ronald Howard was the son of the 1920s/30s star Leslie Howard, who starred in such films as Gone With The Wind, Pygmalion and The Scarlet Pimpernel. Leslie Howard was also a director of anti-Nazi propaganda films during WW2, before the Nazis shot down the civilian airliner he was travelling on.
