I will never understand how the pro-police, thin-blue-line folks can support a convicted felon who encourages violence and undermines respect for courts and the law. The irony is incredible.

And they are fiercely against defacing the American flag, except when they decide to do it to show their authoritarian bona fides.

It must be that they support the police not because they support law and order but because they like how the police are tough and violent against people they don’t like (Blacks, Latinos, immigrants). This is my neighbor’s house in liberal Massachusetts.

They support police when police support their authoritarian goals. They turn on police in the rare instances police don’t support their authoritarianism.
