As this conflict has unleashed large mass protests across the world, (including protests against Netanyahu in Israel), I look forward to a conversation with Vincent about how his reporting from around the world in the 2010s can inform our understanding of the world today.

As a map of reactions to Hamas' attacks on 10/7 and Israel's subsequent invasion of Gaza reminds us, we live in a "polycentric condition" marked by authoritarian aspirations for a “multipolar” world, but also by networked protest movements eager to learn from one another.

Speaking for myself, I am proud that Regensburg and Bavaria host conversations that bring together perspectives from scholarship, journalism and the arts. Such an approach is essential to make sense of a world reeling from Russia's war on Ukraine & Hamas' attacks on Israel.
