Following suggestions from many people on Bluesky: an idea for 2025 Atlantic Tropical Cyclone names, if someone has the credentials to propose this to the World Meteorological Organization. Instead of retiring the names of major storms, we should retire the oil companies that don't decarbonize.
If I may, I think your idea is wonderful but I don’t think it will pass. However, using the first names of the CEOs of those companies might. For example: Aramco - Amin Crevron - Mike ExxonMobile - Darren Shell - Wael Those could be anybody’s names. But those CEOs would have to carry on!
Thinking of everyone managing Milton over the next days and weeks, from Merida to Tampa and beyond. We're under tropical storm warning in Miami (200 miles from Tampa), hoping impacts will be minor here. Hurricanes are weird: relief that you'll be safe comes only because other people are getting hit.
