Had an excellent day out yesterday with the Devon Fly Group; thanks to RSPB for allowing us into the off limits parts of Bowling Green Marsh, Goosemoor and Powderham Marsh. A few highlights: ALT texts for names etc. #UKWIldlife#entomology#diptera

Pherbina coryleti (Sciomyzidae) 17/8/2024 Bowling Green Marsh, Topsham, Devon. Common enough wetlands but a new one for me.
Ontholestes murinus (Staphylinidae) 17/8/2024 Bowling Green Marsh, Topsham. A lovely mottled staph hunting flies on cow pats.
Chorthippus albomarginatus (Acrididae) Lesser Marsh Grasshopper 17/8/2024 Bowling Green Marsh, Topsham. Abundant in wet grassland; the Upper Exe Estuary seems to be its Devon stronghold.
Water Shrew (Neomys fodiens) 17/8/2024 Bowling Green Marsh, Topsham. My find of the day even though a (very fresh) dead one.
