Coincidentally, it was another Steven Spielberg film, Indiana Jones, and the Temple of Doom released in 1984, in which a guy rips out another man’s beating heart, that provoked the creation of PG-13. As someone who was not quite 13 in 1984, I remember this distinctly.
It was only PG. It came out in 1982, before the invention of PG-13.

They can’t. Honestly, I don’t even think the protesters during Vietnam did much good. They just pissed people off and gave Nixon the presidency in 1968. It was the daily reading of the names of dead US soldiers that eventually stopped our involvement, nothing to do with dead Vietnamese or Cambodians
