Lawrence Principe‘s talk last night, “The Mysteries of the Bologna Stone, the First Artificially Produced Phosphorescent Material” was fantastic. Fascinating to learn how recreating alchemical experiments revealed knowledge deemed to be “lost secrets” in the 1660s.
