I don’t trust American corporations even if they say they are public benefit, open or otherwise. OpenAI proved this more than well enough.
Like this. Additionally, accounts that are marked with a tag like this follow your settings in the "Settings -> Moderation", so based on what you have set there they will be automatically hidden or you'll receive a warning like the one on my screenshot.
For anyone new on Bluesky who would see this post: go to Feeds and add "OnlyPosts" to your Feeds. It's a feed without reposts/retweets. Such a nice thing.
That's really good to know. I saw the documentation for ATProtocol, but must've missed the rest (other than PDS). Good to be corrected!
Handles are big for protecting against impersonation, that is true. Haven't looked into the RSS stuff yet, so thanks for that shout. :)
Fair. I meant "in all one rich persons basket". Until Bluesky actually provides on the promise of decentralization it is _a bit_ in one basket.
To play the devil's advocate, Bluesky for now is also fairly centralized.
This "decentralized potential" so far seems to be quite a... marketing term. I don't see any decentralization features yet (other than custom handles using domains).
Usually, but not necessarily. Enshittification is caused by the platform first providing value to users, then providing value to partners (advertisers, data brokers, restaurants in food delivery apps, et cetera) and then extracting revenue but screwing over both users and partners.
