The ESA has announced the official end of E3. A sad, monumental moment. E3 was more than just an event with cool on-stage showcases, networking, deals - for 2 decades, it was a moment, like an annual World Cup. It felt special growing up. Gutted to have never been in-person.

I still colloquially call the summer game showcase period "E3", because it's just easy and everyone gets what that means. We have other digital showcases now and Gamescom picks up the slack of the in-person giant show. We're still missing live on-stage showcases though.

Oh dang, like we knew it was coming but it's sad to hear

I think people are upset the idea of E3 is officially gone now because it was always problematic (old e3 was booth babes era) and these days it's doxxing and false ads Really hope Gamescom just seizes this op to be like "we're e3 now"

When I was a kid, I always thought it'd be awesome if I could visit E3 at some point. Never been, and while it was already clear that it wasn't going to last long anymore before COVID hit, it's still sad to see it go.

Now I consider myself lucky I was able to go a couple times before covid happened. I'm sad it's gone, but not surprised after all the drama earlier this year.
