I’ve found running a track through the stock overdrive plug-in, with a very low gain, can work quite well in lieu of a dedicated saturation effect. Probably not for the master channel, though

IMO the big difference with Xen is how it introduces mechanics without real warning or tutorialisation, the rest of the game tries to ease the player into new situations while Xen is more unfriendly to the player in a design sense. Although I think this is intentional and part of Xen’s character
