That's been a trend from the early days of Arena. And sometimes your opponent will concede, but due to whatever reason it'll not be registered, and it'll count them as still present even when they aren't. And unfortunately some, but few, use it as a psychological strategy to win

I don't think it works as a psychological strat to win. But it does take up a lot more time.
