To be fair though “The Bear” is a dramedy similar to the likes of “Atlanta” and the affromention “Bojack Horseman”. Like as much of all the dramatic and serious moments the series convey, at its core they are still conceived as comedies with their own brand of humor.

Comedies don’t get respect. The Emmy’s routinely gave the award for best comedy to the show based on the most serious dramatic episode submitted, not the anything actually funny.

The Shogun situation is also bizarre and predicated entirely on awards eligibility. It was a mini series, but the producers thought it would fare better for best drama so they pushed hard to get another season before awards submission deadlines
