This week’s column is all about segregation Some on the right would have us believe that mass migration is making Britain more segregated. The data shows that just isn’t true: every ethnic group is getting more dispersed 1/5 @thetimes.comwww.thetimes.com/article/09fd...
It's the Murdoch connection that makes me queasy about trusting Times journalism.
Your claim about the right is misleading. They right also typically claims that immigrants are a pervasive presence ('mosque on every street!'). Your data suggests they are right. Moral of the story: you can't win.
Last week Robert Jenrick singled out Birmingham as being home to “intercommunal violence” and “segregated communities”. Yet Birmingham has become quite a bit less segregated since 2001, *despite* the white British population falling from 66% to 43%… 2/5
Fascinating data... ...thanks so much for dissecting and sharing it!
The blanket term 'white' is unhelpful in a European context I think. Interesting data though.
One would almost think they're lying and what they really don't like is sharing their neighbourhoods with all these non white people 😒
Thanks for this, Tom. Is there an interactive version of these graphs where I can see what some of the other areas are? Particularly interested in any Welsh places and how they fare.
