Your uncle hit his first pro home run for the Vancouver Capilanos on Sept. 7, 1948, against Yakima. One of the umpires was Harry Ornest, father of the Vancouver Canadians.

True. But I don't think the provincial government is a primary funder, at least for the larger systems. Greater Victoria Public Library got $18.5 million from municipality last year, just $640,000 from province. (More than $15 million spent on salaries, about $1 million on library materials.)
