Washington DC wildlife: Immature red-shouldered hawk this afternoon on Rodman Street, mantling to keep its prey away from nearby crows. 🪶

During the 20 yrs that I did raptor rehab & education, I got numerous calls about hawks on the ground w/broken wings. This is what they were seeing. I was always grateful that people cared enough to call us at Project Wildlife. Cool shot.
