I can relate (to some extent). We used to rush home in the evenings, so the poor dog - who had only been with the dog-walker - would have some company. More often than not, he'd come ambling in from his dog room (posh, we are,😂) look at us as if to say "Oh it's you" and go straight back to sleep.
