It's a specific response to the content of those ads. They attack Harris for supporting gender-affirming care for trans prisoners, but the exact same was provided during Trump's term.

My dad has frequented the Drudge Report my whole life. In a weird way I hope he still does

No, I don't, and that doesn't make any more sense. They're the same character!

(after double checking: this is the very first one, and it's even worse lol)

That's all still there! There's dialogues in Darktide about Soul Binding, and an episode of a new animated miniseries which centers around a Black Ship.

(I alt-texted Raven Guard even though Dark Angels is right there on the guy's pauldron. Dumbass.)

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first ever depiction of the Emperor. You definitely got the sense of the Imperium as a decaying, sclerotic empire more than the Indomitus Crusade stuff of the current edition gives you.

Rogue Trader Space Marines were a lot less cool. They weren't giants, demigods or warrior monks, they were shown getting absolutely slaughtered a lot more often than now, and were often depicted as gross, decrepit old men technologically sustained way past their time–a walking gerontocracy.

Gross-looking 1st edition Space Marine Commander.
More gross-looking 1st edition Space Marines.
1st edition Space Marines doing the dumb grunt work of arresting a guy for graffiti, something well beneath the dignity of the mighty Adeptus Astartes they'd become later
1st edition Raven Guard in battle. Note the "have a nice day" scrawled on the nearest Marine's bolter, a touch of quirk which would never fly today

...sort of. The extent and point of 40k's satire kinda comes and goes depending on the writer. 1st edition 40k was a satire of 1980s British conservatism (there's still an Ork warboss named after Margaret Thatcher) but as the setting's scope and audience expanded that plot definitely lost
