Was thinking about starting a sarcastic TTRPG discourse like "Games shouldn't have combat systems - if real role players want balanced sword fights they just will happen organically!" Then I remembered most of my preferred games nowadays don't have complex combat rules and shut up.

My argument would have been based on "27+ years of gaming experience!", leaving out it's just a lifetime of playing the exact same game with the same four guys and three of them are named Mark.

Most people don’t want a combat, but sometimes they may want to end a debate with a well-applied headbutt.

Combat in ttrpgs should only be resolved out of game, if you want to kill an NPC you should have to beat the GM to death with whatever is at hand.
