The longish short version is lots of things. Single parenting in Oakland was hard and expensive. I wanted to get back east but can’t afford the cities I’ve lived. My dad died and mom is alone and frail and needs help. Kiddo starting HS so a not ideal but not awful time to move.

So we’re living w/my mom in the house where I grew up, kiddo can walk to school, I can work from home, save some $, maybe travel a bit. Reconnect with old friends. Hopefully find queer community here.
