I'd probably encourage them to pledge from their computers, as I wouldn't be surprised if Google did something similar in the future. Their rules are similar and it's not hard to interpret Patreon's subscription as adding functionality to the app (e.g. reading previously locked posts).

Seems to me like thats something the Monopoly and Mergers commission should be looking into here in the UK and the equivalent agencies elsewhere do likewise. Blatant racketeering.

you can make purchases like this on your phone using a web browser and a credit card the normal way instead of Apple Pay through the app, if you want to skirt the Apple tax
