I recall a woman on a writer's group got upset because I replaced the ranks commodore and rear admiral, lower half with "force admiral" based on Naval officers' disdain for those names. She threw a fit telling me that's not how the US Navy does it. I said, "It's 500 years in the future! What Navy?"

Hale-Bopp is one I got to see while driving from Cincinnati to my parents' place up in Holmes County, OH. It used to be between Cincinnati and Columbus you got quite the starfield, so the comet looked vivid.
