#Fragment recently found under loose floorboards in 1614 part of house. Looking for suggestions in regard to age and original use. Stained back & painted front. Very rigid so less likely part of clothing.

They do need full sun and don’t like very wet ground in the winter. The only lavender that makes it through a harsh winter is the English one.

Our home and garden are literally littered with rubbish from the past making me a hoarder of historic waste. Everything is being carefully cleaned and analysed before being boxed and stored. The most exciting finds are those that can be clearly matched to a previous resident.

John Gerard tells his readers in 1597, that the Indians use the Yucca root for making bread which they call 'Cazaua' or 'Casava'. So, #cassava flour was used by the indigenous tribes but it is unlikely it was used in England by that time.
