It’s on by default. However, certain extensions (e.g. uBlock origin) or browsers (Brave) also disable by default. Any of those the case with you? Preloading does make requests before they are needed and some privacy-focused tech prefers to turn this off by default and take the perf hit 😔

I hate the UX of clicking on a Toot or a Profile outside of Mastodon and then not being able to repost/follow. It’s such an anti-web thing and a barrier IMHO.
I'm still annoyed with the death of a decent tech social media 😢 Too many people that I'd like to follow left Twitter, Mastodon thinks that linking is not a part of the web, Threads and Bluesky are just dead let's be honest. It's got to the point that LinkedIn is actually looking good? I mean WTF🤯
