And this is Batman's Aff His Nut by Robert Florence, which, in my opinion, is easily the greatest Scottish poem ever written about Batman...
Given the specific circumstances, that might be the best way to go. Gifted + ADHD is a really challenging combination for everyone involved - especially him. The system isn't designed to be able to accommodate him (or anyone, I would argue, but that's a broader topic lol).
Hopefully there's something you can work out with the teacher. I never showed my work either and it was a continual problem. It took my parents being annoying enough and having a couple of allies in the administration to get me what I needed.
Oh, yeah, 100% agreed. On top of everything else, it's annoying to me because it kind of destroys something aesthetically beautiful about math, which is that there are a countless number of ways of thinking about the same thing that can all be equally correct.
As someone with number sense, I'm very positive that he has an intuition for these specific concepts already
