I've been releasing semver packages for >10 years, and I've only just recently learned about pre-release comparison rules. In short, you should separate the numbers in your pre-release suffix with a period if you want them compared properly. 1.0.0-alpha123 ❌ 1.0.0-alpha.123 ✅
