In fact, Europe has arguably been stuck at the other extreme, opposed to AC even when it may be beneficial. That may be changing but, old habits die hard. Behavioral solutions will only go so far, and for me the air conditioned office is a godsend during a heatwave. Not everyone is so lucky. (3/3)

For sure, the US has a singular love affair with AC. We saw this in prior research – even after accounting for income and climate, the US fixed effect is real! Against that backdrop, I’m all for modifying behaviours and preferences to avoid gratuitously blasting AC 24/7. But there are limits. (2/3)
