Glory of the National Theatre were Proclamation of our country happened 105 years ago. Honoured to be invited to attend the concert in person by our President of Latvia. Work of NGOs is not very visible and admired as one of companies or government thereof this special recognition matters a lot.
I work part time as a teacher because then I can bridge past with future through today. Latvia has 105 years anniversary and we discussed with students about the freedom. In small daily choices, democracy values, hard work to secure it and privilege we have to own it in our small but strong country
Yesterday night also went out in local march of Lāčplēša Day in my small town. This is a memorial day for soldiers who fought for the independence of Latvia. Fantastic feeling to see so many young people and families together lighting candles and torches for light future of my country.
Back from Bratislava forum on aid/support to Ukraine. The worlds of real needs of small NGOs and donors still never meet. INGOs are comfortable intermediary for all. Role of private sector increasing and the lines between economic interests and pure help decreasing. Lots of thoughts.
Russia is deporting Ukrainian children from their home to "Russify" them. This is genocide. We still need about 6000 signatures to reach 50 000 - the quorum needed for the German Bundestag to discuss the petition. The organizers are in contact with the Bundestag to this end. Please sign & share!
