I get your point, but maybe year-on-year growth destroys the planet & is unsustainable? Can a population have a good quality of life with minimal annual growth? In light of climate emergencies, do economists need to develop new measures of economic health?

Definitely open to that! I’m not convinced by d-growth though. There’s a lot of space to bring down CO2 emissions of GDP which we are already doing, and a lot of it (ahem, services, Germany?) add to GDP but not CO2.
