it's come up in my streams now & then but enthusiasts /in general/ that fixate on box office numbers beyond academic interest really need to reality check with the fact that theatregoing crowds are not the same & likely will never be the same as they were pre-Endgame and pre-lockdowns (as do execs)

What's your thoughts on tracking box office numbers as a means of guessing likelihood of future sequels? I know I've been watching TF One's numbers purely because I'm thinking "please be profitable enough to convince them to make another."

covid or not, stuff changes, that is the nature of culture and media, and embracing box office success through the lens of unrealistic immoral greedy executive decisionmakers only diminishes the vision of those fortunate enough to enjoy media for media's sake celebrate success, do not demand it
