Yup! We were also surprised by the paucity of research on those lines.
We barely acknowledge the USMC an army. I remember my intro to military law professor explaining why it was technically okay to use Marines to do Drug War stuff in California. He wasn't lawyer-brained, though - readily acknowledged it was messed up.
