Serious answer: It's not inappropriate because we forced Christianity on Māori. At best 'offered' it to them. Permission is implicit. Whereas, with a majority culture using iconography from a smaller, marginalised one, we risk diluting it, misunderstanding it, or profiting off the power imbalance.

I can't comment on this particular graphic but that's a loose explanation of my understanding of cultural appropriation.
