1st post on Bluesky and it's of my obsession. October has been a really good birding month for me so far. I've gotten 6 life list birds so far this month: Rose-Breasted Grosbeak Northern Flicker House Wren (not pictured) Magnolia Warbler (not pictured) Clapper Rail Cape May Warbler

An immature Rose-Breasted Grosbeak perched in a dogwood tree. Dogwoods provide attractive berries for birds in the fall.
A Clapper Rail foraging on the edge of some marsh grass. Rails are often tough to spot due to their habit of staying within dense marsh grass. I've heard rails many times, but this is the first time I've seen one
A Cape May Warbler in a juniper tree. Either a female or immature male. A nice treat after sifting through a million Palm Warblers.
A male Northern Flicker peeking around a tree at me. I was copying the sounds he was making and did it well enough that I piqued his curiosity.

Had you seen a house wren before? I used to have some that would build nests in the riding lawnmower at my old house, I didn't think they were unusual to see.
