Counterpoint: We should be heavily exporting "y'all" to other regions in the US to de-regionalize it! The English language doesn't have a good plural you (unlike many many many other languages). "Y'all" fits the bill perfectly by being a gender neutral plural "you."

In person, you can hear when someone who isn't southern uses y'all, even if it makes sense in context. It's so fucking grating and I can't even explain why.

Yes please! I'm used to second person plurals now and not having a good one in English is worse now 😂
