Probably not, changing it requires you to have your own domain and configure stuff within that domain. it’s a component of the way this site is designed, theoretically you could just take your account elsewhere so it has to be portable

I think part of the reason for this is to sidestep the need to verified accounts. Like, if your handle is your domain name, we know for sure it’s you. For example, @npr.org is for sure NPR. It’s just an additional benefit that furries are able to use .dog or whatever domain names.
