The interests of World Jewry (whose welfare depends on ‘antisemitism’ retaining its power) are hurt when the term is 1) cheapened by American politicians to prevent criticism of their strategic ally in the ME, and 2) cheapened by Israelis to prevent fair criticism of their apartheid ethnostate

Well they want to weaponize antisemitism to support strategic American interests in the M.E. They don’t really care if it loses meaning, even the ADL or AIPAC, who are Israel first, Jews second

Hmm, this is in practice what it is so spot on

I’m a non-Zionist Jew who has devoted my career to the study of & participation in Jewish life, text, & practice. Some of my most knowledgeable, humane, & passionately Jewish mentors and colleagues are anti/non-Zionist. If, per the US House, we are antisemites, then that term has lost all meaning.

This powerful message which would undoubtedly soften the hearts of American Christians would be reported ad nauseam in the mainstream media if it didn’t conflict with the Israeli narrative

To be quite honest, nothing in the world is predictable. I still have hope a solution amenable to both Israelis and Palestinians can be found, but maybe after our lifetime. I think a single democratic secular state with protections from marginalization of any group via a constitution is fairest

The entrenched Israeli West Bank settlements, which the US turned a blind eye to due to AIPAC stranglehold, make it near impossible for 2 state to be feasible. Not to mention the current Israeli leadership would never accept it, and it would be political suicide for future Israeli leadership

However, Biden is bandying 2-state because it’s the most developed US position and calms down critics of Israel. But empty words. Israel will never accept 2 state. 1 state will also not be accepted by Israel unless democracy is done away with. That’s why the current apartheid setup is perfect.

Thanks for your thoughts. Particularly interesting is what comes after, & I agree Qassam leadership didn’t expect the attack to go down like that. Their goal was to stay relevant by kidnapping some soldiers/civilians, and kill some soldiers. Now both political/armed wing have to own what happened /1

I would be inclined to believe the theory of pure revenge (definitely a key part of it) but previous Nakbas were carried out in the same way. Likud (and their coalition partners) charter calls for Jewish from River to Sea. Many Israeli ministers’ statements have said the quiet parts out loud
