As an engineer I learned a lot of material science and as for polymers Infinite recycling is nearly impossible and only even applicable with a select few types of plastics AND they have to be transparent or all the same color. Also without softening additives. Recycling is largely green washing.

By no means is it impossible to recycle plastic, but it is ridiculous to assume that with the way we make and use plastics right now there was even a chance to recycle most of it. People or rather corporations just skip reduce and reuse and want to jump straight to recycle, that won't work.
