The weird thing to me is that I keep hearing young people who weren’t there gassing up the things from my youth that sucked. Shouldn’t I be the one with nostalgia for the 90s, not them? Democrats, pop songs, sitcoms - good ones used to be hard to come by!

Seems like mass media is really good at creating pop culture nostalgia for a given decade. Of course if you go back and look at media created *at that time* about *ordinary life* things tend to be less rosy.
