Both of these things can be true: toxic positivity in the climate movement is bad AND focusing on solutions isn’t inherently toxic positivity. Why? Because we know what so many of the solutions are, but almost none are being implemented at the speed/scale necessary & we don’t know if they will be!
Researchers assessed 42 indicators of climate action needed by 2030 to hold global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees C. Only one is on track.
Oh my gosh, yes. 99% of reporting is still focused on the negatives and people don’t understand that not lack of fear but rather a stunning lack of efficacy is what is holding back much of the action needed.

It depends a lot on the solutions: if they are five gigaton-level carbon sucking from the atmosphere by 2035 rather than e.g. not making every new car a huge mega truck now, rather realism than anything toxic even if it ruffles some feathers, huh.
