There's definitely places like that. Amazon, for instance, seems to run on employee burnout (and the odd workaholic in Bezos image the culture is designed for). But there's also places where they pay you a pretty big sum of money but are reasonable to work at. Most big tech is like this.

And then there's the similar to #1 (but IMO distinct) case of places that work you hard with the explicit expectation that they will compensate commensurately. aiui fintech is generally like this. you know what you are signing on for and you can just not take the deal.
