Doing them in the reverse order and reading that now. It's also excellent.
An Immense World by Ed Yong. It delves into how animals sense the world around them.
I get it for sure. That doesn't mean for 1 minute that I don't have a lot of issues simply being on the open road, and with trust of drivers. Traffic in general freaks me out now, thus, why I simply will never ride on the open road solo again. And that I hate that the driver took that joy away.
Sorry but I can't like that. I used to run a lot of marathons too. Now if I do anything and have a Target it might be for a half and a much reduced pace. Sorry, walking and running gives you so much pain now. It's a shame.
I also run. I was pretty avid before the crash and have gotten back sort of to something approaching what I was doing before. So that's my 'out the front door' sport. And the brain injury has caused significant vestibular symptoms that have to be overcome or accommodated. Lessening very slowly.
I'm pretty matter of fact about it. It happened and there's not much I can do about it now, and it doesn't really bother me a lot to talk about it. That's why I wrote the massive blog post, which I now just update from time to time with recovery progress.
Similar to mine indeed. But I guess the big difference for me was the brain injury resulting from several small strokes, and then of course the internal injuries and losing my spleen among other things. Also a stent in my right carotid artery. My bowels being in my chest cavity were something else.
No I the always found the risk of crashing to be a little too high and racing for my liking. I'd say I'm probably a medium to strong recreational cyclist. I more did long distance events so things like the Victoria Grand pondo and other 100K plus and longer events.
