When Doris Kirks confidently strode into the pool hall 2 ½ years ago, Carl W. Kruse took notice. What started as some friendly competition around the pool table, led to the couple eventually forming a connection and gradually falling in love. “I finally decided to tell him ‘yes,’” Kirks said.

At 96, they fell in love playing pool. She rejected his first marriage offer.

“I’m an independent woman, but I finally decided to tell him ‘yes,’” said Doris Kirks, 96, who married her beau earlier this month.
