Calling all finch fans! I know Cri gets Purple finches, is this one? Seems generally darker and notes of raspberry to me. Would be a first for me. House finches are more red (or occasionally yellow), seems to me. #birds#backyardbirds

I'm seconding the house finch ID. They can get pretty vibrant, but the grey cheeks are classic house finch. The best and oddly most helpful description I've ever heard of purple finches is that they look like they've been dipped in raspberry jam! 😄

Looking at the photos on the Cornell guide, I'm thinking it's a House finch based on the brown streaks around his face. Only definite Purple finch I've ever seen was up at Mt. Laguna about 3 years ago.
