Unfortunately public facing images like thumbnails, banners, and covers are more regulated since you aren't really getting content warnings for those before seeing them. I can't give more detail beyond that but I'm glad that the issue got resolved in the end.
There's sometimes a temporary review of mature marked series which can affect the search but no most are still actively available. Some creators make the choice to have their comic be website exclusive so they don't have to worry about app guidelines.
Yes, the website version does have a lot more flexibility on content compared to the app due to overlapping store rules. The mature section, however, is currently available to premium works only. Some censoring is required on Tapas but not to the level of Webtoon.
This is also why I opt for a content warning system and not an overall rating system in the WCL. Everyone's standards are different, and it would be very difficult to develop and implement, especially as a one person project. Jeez what a Choice.
I'm just flabbergasted since content moderation is my job. That's so much work to enforce it'd be a nightmare. How did they even come up with this system? How long have they developed this before implementing? Who asked for this in the first place? I have so many questions.
