The Dems are responsible as much as any Reps. We gave them power over and over and they safeguarded neither the supremes nor the constitution, nor the people.

To be fair, one reasonably expected a few more congressional Republicans to vote for impeachment and disqualification of the guy who tried to get them all killed, and with the constitutional remedy off the table there weren't a lot of viable or reliable legal or political alternatives.

I don't know if I agree that Dems refused to see it as weightless, but our media definitely did. There were countless articles imploring Democrats to focus on "real issues" and to take the "table issues" more seriously than a one-off faux pas on Trump's part. 🙄

I am sympathetic to what you are saying, but this is also as fine an example of Green Lanternism that one can express. By what mechanism should Dems have held Trump accountable when ~40% of the country doesn't believe in accountability for their guys?

Dems treated Trump malfeasance the way they would any other political attack: they put it aside the moment they took power, so they could focus on “real” issues. Guess what, guys: the rise of Trump and the far right IS a real issue. Maybe the most important one, as we could be about to find out
